- × the share nobody gets to — that’s what rang out.
- × the real-job share — that’s the work inside it.
- × what you charge for one — that’s a month. Twelve of them makes the figure on the meter.
The four I loaded are set low, and low is where I’d leave them. A figure you can argue with is worth nothing to either of us, so I’d rather sit under than over. Push them up if your shop runs bigger — nothing here will stop you.
The bar under the figure runs to fifty thousand a year and no further. Past that it stops measuring and says so, because a bar pinned to the end tells you nothing.
What the meter shows you is what got away, not what you’ll collect. I can’t promise you the second one and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. Not one number in it is mine either, and you won’t find a borrowed industry statistic anywhere on this site — the ones in circulation have no source anyone can follow back.
